SEND & INCLUSION
At Fenstanton Primary School, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. Our recent Ofsted inspection recognised the strength of our inclusive practice, noting that leaders “identify needs promptly and accurately” and work closely with families to ensure every child receives the support they need.
We believe every child deserves to feel known, understood and valued. Our SEND provision is built on strong relationships, early identification and personalised support that helps pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Our approach to inclusion
-
Early identification: We work with families from the moment a child joins the school to understand their needs and put the right support in place.
-
Tailored provision: Support is personalised, flexible and regularly reviewed to ensure it makes a difference.
-
Strong partnerships: We collaborate with the local authority, therapists and specialist agencies to provide high‑quality support.
-
Inclusive classrooms: Teachers adapt their teaching so pupils with SEND can access the full curriculum alongside their peers.
-
Support for EAL pupils: Ofsted highlighted that pupils who speak English as an additional language are supported to develop spoken English “alongside their classmates”.
-
Effective use of funding: Additional funding is used to ensure disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND can participate fully in school life.
Working with our families
We believe inclusion works best when families and school work together. Parents are involved at every stage, with regular reviews, shared planning and open communication.
Our commitment
Fenstanton is proud to be a school where every child is welcomed, supported and encouraged to achieve their best.
