ART &
DESIGN
INTENT
At Fenstanton, we believe that all children should be provided with a curriculum that teaches and helps them to discover and develop their varied gifts and talents. In Art & Design, these gifts and talents will be nurtured by supporting the children to develop their artistic knowledge, as well as developing their creative competencies.
As our curriculum is an integrated-topic approach, we aim to support our children to transfer their developing knowledge and skills as inspiring artists and designers to a range of rich learning contexts.

IMPLEMENTATION
The Art and Design projects are well sequenced to provide a coherent subject scheme that develops children’s skills and knowledge of visual elements, art forms, artists and art movements.
Projects are placed alongside other subject projects where there are opportunities for making meaningful connections. For example, Beautiful Botanicals has been placed in the same teaching sequence as the science project Plants and Greenhouses.

IMPACT
The impact of our Art and Design Curriculum is measured through a range of outputs:
-
Formative, summative subject data which is produced from assessments as well as on-going teacher judgements
-
Baseline assessments
-
Book looks & Learning walks
-
Pupils Voice - Pupil Conferencing and Lesson Visits
-
Parent Voice - Working with parents/carers to gather a holistic view of the child both in and outside of school
